-So now you know what your Learning Style is, how will this help to make your learning more effective? Do you think this will help your personal development?

Now that I know that my learning style is Aural, I can use this to make my learning more effective by listening to sounds more or voices, like my teachers and tutorials online to learn more knowledge about things that I need to know.

If you were to do this test and you got a Visual learning style, the ways were you could use this to make your learning more effective is by using coloured highlighters to marks out notes, or identify key words or you could use the different colours or different types of information. You could also draw sketches or wee cartons that would relate to the topic that you’re learning about, these will then help you to locate a particular section and make them more memorable. Another which could be useful would be to pay attention to the layout of your notes, it might be more useful to use flow-charts or diagrams in certain subjects like science or math’s.

If you then got Auditory you could use this to your advantage by playing soothing music as you revise, as if you were to listen to a soft tempo beat it would then help you to relax rather than a faster tempo which could be rather distracting. You could also record some key points on a tape and play them over before you go to sleep. Another thing you could try is making your key points from your notes into a rhyme or a song which would help make these more memorable.

If you got a Kinaesthetic style which is something physical you could use the sticky notes memory technique, which is where you have your list of key words and you write each of them on a sticky note, you could even add in a small drawing nest to the word for more help, you then stick the notes at strategic points around your room, which is like at your light switch, next or a picture or a cupboard door handle, then you walk around the room stopping at each point reading the key word, after you’ve done that a few times you will then remember the words on the notes without having to actually walk around the room.  You can then use this system more than the once to help you remember different lists of keywords. To make sure than you don’t get confused with the different lists you can use different coloured sticky notes or different coloured pens or even a coloured circle in each corner.

Learning styles can help in an academic area by giving you a head start and also maximizing your learning potential, it also helps to enable you to succeed in your school/college or university.  They give you customized techniques so you can score better on exams and they allow you to learn in your own way through your own strategies. They can reduce the stress and frustration of your learning experiences and expands you existing learning and studying strategies and also showing you how to overcome the limitations of poor instructors.

Within the personal area, learning styles can help with increasing your self-confidence and improves your self-image. They give you an insight on your weaknesses, strengths and your habits, and then enable you to enjoy any learning process. Learning styles also inspires a greater curiosity, motivation for a life time of learning, and they show you how to take advantage of your natural skills.

In the professional area learning styles enables you to stay up-to-date professionally, and it would give you an edge over your competitors. They allow you to manage teams more effectively and guide you in delivering effective presentations to audiences. The styles would also help you improve your persuasive and sales skills, also helps you to improve on your cooperation among your colleagues and translates learning power into earning power.

-What’s your preferred learning style?

For the first link that I completed for the learning styles quiz, I learned that my learning style scores which were out of 20 for each style and I got 3 for Visual, 4 for Social, 3 for Physical, 6 for Aural, 2 for Verbal, 4 for Solitary and 2 for Logical, therefore my main type for learning style is Aural which is where I would prefer to use sounds and music techniques to learn better.

If you were to get a Visual learner (spatial) that would mean that you would prefer to use pictures, images, and spatial understanding.

If you were an Aural learner (auditory-musical) then you would prefer to use sounds or music.

Then if you were a Verbal learner (known as linguistic) you would prefer using words, both in speech and writing.

If you were a Physical learner (also known as Kinaesthetic learners) then you would prefer to use your body, hands and sense of touch.

If got a Logical learner (mathematical) then you prefer to use logic, reasoning and systems.

If you got Social learner (interpersonal) then you would prefer to learn in groups or with other people.

If you were to then get Solitary learner (intrapersonal) then you prefer to work alone and use self study.

For the second link that I completed showed that my scores were 7 for an Adventurous Learner, 14 for a Social Learner, 10 for Practical and 8 for a Conceptual Learner. Therefore I would be a social learner, which would mean that I enjoy sharing my journey with others.

If you were to be an Adventurous Learner, then that would mean that you are a 'Do it my own way' kind of person. If a person was an Adventurous learner it would mean that they are independant, have ambitious visions, strong-willed and they would be leaders and not that much of a follower.

If you got a Social Learner like me then that would mean you also 'Enjoy sharing the journey with others'. If a person were to be a Social Learner then they would rather have guidance with most things, that they are intuitive with peoples well being, they are skilled communicaters they have strong values and morals.

If you were to get a Practical Learner then you would be 'Down to earth & 'hands on' kind of person. if they were to be a Practical learner then they usually focus on see, hear and touc, they love to tinker or experiment with things, they likt to be able to get the job done right and on time, and they are also interested on how things would work.

Then if you were to get Conceptual Learner then that would mean you would be 'Intense thinkers seeking understanding' person. then if they were a conceptual learner they would have good imagination, they organise information systematically and thake the time to research the reflect on things and very thorough, they would also enjoy the independant research and are highly literate.

-Introduction to Learning Styles

There are various types of learning styles and everyone learns in a different way, no one else would learn the exact same way as you. There are several benefits to discovering how you process your information. Your learning style can influence your level of learning success. Most people are a different mixture of styles and preferences and they may change depending on the situation. Your styles guide the way you learn. They also change the way you internally represent experiences, the way you recall information, and even the words you choose. Each learning style uses different parts of the brain, by involving more of the brain during learning, and we then remember more of what we learn.

Visual (spatial) which is where the visual learners work more effectively in a visual environment and that they prefer using pictures, images, maps drawings and spatial understanding

Aural (auditory-musical) which is where you would prefer using sounds or music

Verbal (linguistic) where you would like to prefer using words, both in speech and writing, and which is where verbal learners would be more effective with the written tasks, instructions and guidelines

Physical (kinesthetic) where you would prefer using your body, like your hands and your sense of touch

Logical (mathematical) where you prefer using logic, and your reasoning and systems

Social (interpersonal) where you would prefer to learn in a group or just with other people

Solitary (intrapersonal) where you would prefer to work alone and use self-study

There are various ways where you can detect a person’s preferred learning style in simple ways so that we can enhance the effectiveness of our communication once we are aware of them, like watching there eye movements when they are thinking or answering a question, or another one way is by there common vocabulary.
